A Beginner’s Guide To The Perfect Shave

A Beginner’s Guide To The Perfect Shave

Nothing beats the feeling of a great start to the day - water with the right temperature, perfectly toasted bread, and of course, a smooth shave! Similar to any other task, you can’t just expect to become a shaving expert overnight; a lot of experience and trials go into mastering your face and the shaving process.

Well, it’s not much of a rocket science if you continue reading this blog. We’ll explain everything you need to know about getting a perfect shaving experience.

Shaving Creams - Why Them?

Simply put, shaving cream is a rich, creamy barrier between your skin and shaving brush to ensure a smooth razor glide. It not only offers lubrication for zero friction but also helps to minimize irritation, nicks, or cuts.

They are more moisturizing as compared to other products, ensuring a rejuvenating skincare experience. More often, they are infused with alluring aromas to create a luxurious lather. Specially formulated for dry skin, they are more effective when used regularly for shaving to snatch that glow back!

We can not rave enough about its benefits, but just to give you a brief picture; here are a few:

Skin protection: Shaving is an abrasive process for skin, especially for sensitive ones. Using creams enables your razor to glide effortlessly without friction.

Precise shave: With a thick layer of shaving cream, your hair will be properly lubricated and enable you to glide your razor as close to the skin as possible, without the risk of cuts.

Wet shaving wins: Never go for dry shaving. It’s a welcome board for redness and irritation. Always choose wet shaving for a hydrating experience.

No ingrown hairs: Who doesn’t hate that pesky ingrown hair? They appear when your skin is clogged or dry. Shaving creams have the superpower to reduce ingrown hair by softening it.

No razor burn: Shaving creams are infused with skin-loving ingredients that help hydrate and nourish your skin, all the while making it hair-free and soft like a baby.

A fun experience: It’s time to admit - nobody likes shaving. But shaving with a lustrous, rich, aromatic cream adds a touch of elegance to your daily routine.

Achieve The Perfect Shave

Let’s unfold the magic to a perfectly close and smooth shave!

Prepare your brush: Start by wetting your shaving brush for a good 3 to 5 minutes. It will soften the bristles for a rich lather. You might want to soak it in warm water.

Cleanse your face: Washing your face with warm water will help open up your clogged pores, and soften your beard. Use a gentle facewash that deeply cleanses your skin without stripping it of its moisture.

Prepare your shaving cream: Pour a small amount of shaving cream into a bowl, and use your shaving brush to create a rich lather. If you’re not satisfied with the lather, add a few water drops to the bowl and work it until you get the desired consistency. Add in more cream if your cream is too runny.

Apply the cream: Now that your shaving cream is of the perfect consistency, apply it over your face using circular motions with the brush. Make sure to apply evenly over all the desired areas.

Shave your face: Now comes the real deal. Start shaving your face in the direction of the grain using gentle strokes. For extra precision, you can shave against the hair grain. Do not be hard on your skin as it may cause irritation or redness. Keep on rinsing your razor in between to avoid any build-up.

Rinse your face: Wash your face thoroughly with warm water and then finish it off with a splash of cold water. This step will help keep your skin moisturised by closing up your pores and ensuring smooth skin.

Time for after-shave care: Once your shaving process is over, it’s time to keep your skin as good as it feels. Using the right products is the key to your dream supple skin. Think of it as a locking mechanism. A good hydrating product lets your skin absorb the essential nutrients for long hours.

Apply an after-shave balm or oil to moisturise your face for the whole day. This will help avoid any redness or irritation while giving a cooling effect.
